She’s a one year old pittie pup who was found tied up to a bench in a NYC park just a few blocks from the local public shelter, unable to walk and crying in pain. The shelter contacted our friend Josh at Bully Project asking him to take her, as she could not get the necessary care there. He and his partner in crime, Jen, agreed and rushed her to the emergency vet. The initial diagnosis is that something fractured one of the vertebrae in her neck very severely. She has lost all ability to stand, sit, walk or even use her legs at all. Total paralysis, but she has sensation so the doctors are hopeful that she can recover.
Her medical bills alone (this won’t include any recovery efforts like physical & water therapy) are approximately $7,000. So they have set up a youcaring fundraiser to help raise some money to cover the exorbitant cost.
I know that we all have a lot of expenses, but this pup needs our help, so I want to sweeten the deal for those of you who CAN spare a few bucks and make a donation. If you make a donation of $15 or more, comment on this post and I will enter you in a drawing for a FREE Tiennot Knits sweater and bow-tie (update: Crystal of Beer Paws also will provide a Beer Paw bottle opener to one lucky donor)! You guys came through for Kimba a few years back, and now we need to come through for Amelie. Please donate, and if you can’t, just share Amelie’s story on social media. It takes a village to save a pittie…. and this village we’re a part of is awesome enough to do just that!
