One Couple + Two Dogs = Our Waldo Bungie

Our 3rd Blogiversary Survey Results (and a Giveaway)!

October 5th, 2012 | Posted by Emily in Blog Love | Doggies! | Fostering. | Giveaways | Nostalgia | Opt to Adopt | Stuff I Love | Tiennot Knits

Wow! I learned so much about you all with this survey … let’s get to the results (if you only care about the giveaway, feel free to skip ahead, but I promise, the survey results are pretty fun too!)… Not surprisingly, this blog tends to be a big ladypants party, with a whopping 96% of readers being female.

The highest percentage of readers are in the 30-39 age group (32%) with 26-29 year olds coming in a close second (26%). 19-25 year olds and 40-49 year olds made up 12% and 15% respectively, and those 50 and up pulling in 14%. 1% of you thought your age was none of my business – and I totally respect that! As far as relationships are concerned, most of you are in a relationship of some kind, with 65% of you either married, engaged, or in a domestic partnership. Several of you fell into the “other” category, bemoaning being in a long-term relationship with a dude/lady who is dragging his/her feet… isn’t it that Beyonce says: “if you like it then you better put a ring on it?” Hop to it, dudes (or ladies)!

I was proud to see that the highest percentage of readers come from my state of Missouri, with Kansas, Illinois, and California in a tie for second place. There are several states that I haven’t captured any readers, but mark my wooooooords… just kidding. It’s totally cool. What really got me excited what to see the people who read the blog outside of the U.S., in countries like Haiti (hi Josh!), Australia, Canada, and Israel! Nearly half of you (45%) live in a city, while the other half (43%) live in the ‘burbs. 13% of you live in the country and NONE OF YOU live on a private island! Dang, now where are Daniel and I supposed to vacation when it gets really cold?

I wasn’t shocked to see that most of you own a dog (89%), but I was a bit shocked to see that many of you own multiple different pets, including cats, birds, reptiles, turtles, fish, goats, chickens, ducks, and horses. Our Waldo Bungie readers really do love all of God’s creatures, huh?

I was intrigued to see that the majority of you (43%) have been reading our blog for less than a year – and to those of you I say “welcome!” How did you find us? For those of you who have been around since the beginning, thanks for putting up with me for so long! Your badge of honor should be coming in the mail any day now!

My favorite part of the survey was seeing how many of you write blogs of your own – 38%! Some of you have blogs I already knew about, but many were new to me, so I will be sneaking a peek at each and every one of you this weekend! And for those of you who are curious to find a new blog, here are links to the blogs you listed: Clicker Savvy Chronicles, Seoul Mate, Peace Love Foster, It Started with a Pit Bull, The Rehomesteaders, 101 Achievements, The Mischievous Adventures of a Little Red Dog, Wayward Dogs, Mod Bohemian, One Dog Life, Paint Brush Fire, My Two Pitties, A Peace-a-Bull Assembly, Two Kitties One Pittie, Oh Melvin, Mayzie’s Dog Blog, A Heartbeat at my Feet, Perfectly Imperfect, Heiste Communications, The Circus Dog, WOOF! Tails from St. Simons, Trinity’s Love, Adventures of a Dog Mom, Oh Corbin, Fido Fetch Photography, Married with Dawgs, Bellyrubbz, Sharing a Life, Life in Two-Player Mode, Adventures in Fostering (I couldn’t find this one – can you give me a link?), Mr. & Mrs. & Nola Kisses, Pittieful Love, Not a City Girl Anymore, and Pitlandia. Lots of new blogs to check out now, huh?

Alright…now on to our blogiversary GIVEAWAY!

It’s no secret around here that I luuuuuuuuuuurve Sirius Republic collars and accessories! I did a little calculating, and since discovering Sirius Republic one year ago, I have purchased 10 collars, two flowers, and two bow-ties. Can you say obsessed? But seriously, can you blame me? They are super durable and oh-so-stylish! I am constantly stopped when out on walks with our dogs by people exclaiming “where did you get that collar?!” It got so ridiculously that I finally begged Sirius Republic owner Jen to send me some business cards so I could quit saying “Sirius – like Sirius Black from Harry Potter – S-I-R-I-U-S.” And of course, I have followed in the footsteps of my friend Aleks at Love and a Six-Foot Leash by sending off each foster to their new home with a Sirius Republic collar.

I are also pretty obsessed with Tiennot Knits Sweaters. Now, I know that might seem a little weird since it’s my mom’s business, but I can’t help it! I lurve my mama’s dog sweaters. She has a knack for choosing great colors and her sweaters fit my dogs per. fect. ly. It’s stupid how perfect they fit! And they are adorbs. It’s true. Dogs in sweaters = adorable. And you guys must like them a lot too because the Tiennot Knits Facebook page got up to 300 likes in ONE WEEKEND! It’s taken me almost a year to cultivate 600 likes on our blog’s Facebook page. Yep. My mom is more popular than me. I’ve had to accept that. I’d be popular too if I could knit.

So now I want to spread the love. Here’s the deal – I am giving away one Sirius Republic cotton fabric collar and accessory (bow-tie or flower) and one custom-fit Tiennot Knits sweater.

Here’s how you enter:

  • Check out the Tiennot Knits Sweater page on Facebook and the Sirius Republic website or Facebook page and check out the merchandise, then comment on this post and tell me which prize your dog couldn’t live without (you must pick one!). For a bonus entry, tweet about this giveaway and reference @ourwaldobungie and @siriusrepublic, then comment here again with a link to your tweet.
  •  On Sunday, October 7th, 2012 at 9 pm (Central time), I will choose a winner using for the Sirius Republic collar/accessory and another winner for the Tiennot Knits sweater. I will email the winners at that time (and update this post as well). If the winners have not responded to my email within 24 hours, I will pick a new winner.
Am I missing anything? No? Alright enough of my blabbering! Thanks for a great three years of blogging bliss, all! Good luck with the giveaway!
* Thank you to Sirius Republic and Tiennot Knits Sweaters for sponsoring this giveaway!
* Congrats to Shawn W. for winning the Sirius Republic collar/accessory set and Ashley from Modern Bohemian for winning the Tiennot Knits sweater!

Thanks for all the fun info and shtuff! The link to my blog, Seoul Mate, is off a bit, but does route to an interesting one! :) Here’s the link in case someone other than my mom wants to read:

  • avatar Courtney says:

Fenway already has one Sirius Republic collar and loves it, but it’s starting to look a little bit worn. He’d love to get his paws on the Hudson collar! Of course, I’d have to get him another matching bow tie too!! =)

  • avatar Kelli says:

Gah, I have to pick only one?! Diggory already has a fantastic Sirius Republic collar (in the Cape Cod pattern, much like Turk’s), but he does not have a Tiennot Knits sweater! I think something in blue and brown would match his eyes. :) I tweeted about the giveaway here:

  • avatar Jenn Nourse says:

Thanks for the fun info! My boyfriend’s last name is “Heart”, and I know 1 of his 2 rescue dogs would LOVE a Sirius collar with hearts on it to help show off their family crest. In case my last comment didn’t post, the link to my blog, Seoul Mate, routes to another fun blog. But in case anyone esle wants the link to my silly blog:

  • avatar Courtney says:

Tweeted as well! Not sure how to link the tweet, but here’s my page – . Fenway is REALLY hoping he’s lucky enough to get that Hudson collar! =)

  • Great post with the poll results, it’s always fun to see who your readers are.

You know I just learned about Sirius Republic collars they other day, I know where have I been, and am absolutely in love with them! I mean how awesome would Dottie look in the Penny and Boomer rocking the Orange Argyle?

  • avatar Gretchen Stewart says:

These Sirius collars are great. I like the Woodsy Green Plaid collar, (medium, 1.5″, nonslip). It would look great on my almost-grown lab puppy. The sweaters are gorgeous too, but none of my dogs will wear outerwear.

  • avatar Cori says:

Well, isn’t that just soouper doouper (said in my best Minnesotan accent). Now that I am settled and have a computer that doesn’t give me an error every time I try to comment on your blog posts…you will hear more from me! Love the blog and how it’s changed over the years. And I wish I had a pup to put one of those sweaters in….maybe your mom can make one for my cats??

  • avatar Corbin says:

Hehehe… couldn’t have been the momma that told you dad is dragging his feet on that engagement thingy. I know she wouldn’t have done something like that. Survey results were FUN to read! I might have to do that on my blog… Oh, and my pick is for a Sirius Republic collar… because I think I need a boyish Adopt Me collar now that I have foster brothers every once in a while! Btw, I have 4 collars for myself, 1 foster sister Adopt Me collar, 1 flower, two bow ties and 1 Corbin dog tag. To say we love Sirius Rep might be an understatement…

  • avatar April says:

My dog would love a Tiennot Knits sweater. He has no undercoat and we’re visiting Michigan this winter. Perhaps the blue/tan/green sweater?

  • avatar Joanie Hoffman says:

My Cookie would be so pretty in the Pink Elderbelle sweater! Thank you for the giveaway!

  • avatar Leah says:

Cooper would LOVE to win a new Sirius Republic collar. His current one is starting to look a little worse for wear. Congrats on the anniversary, I love reading your blog.

  • avatar Alyssa C. says:

I’m so bummed I missed out on the survey. It sounded like so much fun! Even though we LOVE our 6 Sirius collars, and are always dreaming on which ones to get next, I think we want to try for a sweater. Miss Bella keeps asking me for some new duds. She says her wardrobe is seriously lacking. We didn’t see any larger sizes on the Facebook page though. She would really love anything bright and girly. Purple is her favorite color, or maybe something to match her favorite Gypsy Sirius collar. We do love Miss Emma’s purple elderbull one and that teeny tiny little pink, purple and grey one. But really we’re not picky. Bella makes anything work :-)

  • avatar Wendy Shoemaker says:

I love both, but since I knit myself, I would be tickled pink to win a Sirius Republic collar for Bruce, our pittie we just rescued last week!

  • avatar Handsome Dan says:

Eshe can’t live without a sweater… oh wait… you already gave her one. Well then, perfect!
We will be ordering one for Dan soon!

  • Oscar is stone cold evil-eyed jealous of Cooper’s new Tiennot Sweater. He would love one of his very own so they could match!

  • Little Olley could not go through chilly fall and winter without a Tiennot sweater with buttons, as the beautiful model is wearing and it doesn’t hurt it matches his Sirius Republic collar!! and

  • avatar Karen says:

Oliver would love a Tiennot sweater! We are part (I assume there are more of us) of your Canadian followers and it gets cold up here! Oliver’s bare pink belly needs to be kept warm!

  • avatar Sam says:

I love find out where my readers come from too!

(P.s…. We are part of the 3% from AZ!)

  • I confess….I put mom up to this! Hey I love to be outside and I get a little cold, doesn’t mean I’m not a tough Jack Russell though got it?!

  • avatar Dharma says:

Our pittie Cammie loves her Sirius Happy Camper collar… but I think she needs the Sugar Skulls too to be sure she is the coolest kid on the block! But that doesn’t mean I want to be cold this winter…a snuggly tiennot knits sweater in grey/orange will do just the trick to keep me cozy all winter!

  • avatar Katie says:

Since I am also obsessed with Sirius Republic collars and just ordered 2 new ones, I think a sweater would be perfect. They are calling for a snowy winter here in MD so my pitbull would love to keep warm in style.

  • avatar Carrie C says:

The Sirius collars are adorable. My chocolate pit mix, Molly, would look beautiful in the Orange Creme, Mint Creme or Stacey pool designs-with a coordinating flower of course. As for the sweater-she would love an elderbull style with some pink and green. She is preptastic like that!!

  • I am so bummed that we missed the survey, but loved reading the results. You can feel free to bump up the stats for Pennsylvania… we have been followers for less than one year. I have been obsessed with Sirius Republic collars for just a few months now, and have been saving up for one of our own! Not sure if I would choose the woodsy black and red plaid for Tonka, the girly pink one for Gaige, or a fancy “Adopt Me” one for our new foster sister… really, we wouldn’t be picky! Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway!

  • I have had two Sirius Republic collars in my cart for a week now, the Anni for Nola and the Lilly for Anna (say that 10x fast!), just waiting for payday (today)! But, I’ll hold off for another couple of days to see if I’m lucky enough to win!

  • avatar rachel says:

It was fun to take the survey! Thanks for mentioning us…just getting into the whole blog thing and it’s so much fun:)

I’ve been eye-balling a pair of Rory collars for Kaya & Norman, but there are so many great ones! Here’s the link to my tweet:

  • avatar Anne says:

Aw, really?! I missed the survey? The only interesting thing that I add is one more country to your list. Love you, Em! You’re my favorite crazy dog lady!

  • avatar Anne says:

P.S. – My newest pet is in no need of a collar. I think child services would have a word to say about that . . . You already hooked him up with some sweet duds anyway.

  • avatar pitlandiapooch says:

I loved reading the stats from the survey!

Athena just can’t live without a Sirus Republic collar is the gray Sugar Skulls!

  • avatar tholupka says:

    We. Love. You. Sigh.

  • avatar Debra says:

Well, I would normally say Ray can’t live without a Sirius Republic collar, but he just got a new one last week. He’s got a pretty impressive SR collection for a 10 month old puppy. In order to complete his dashing gentlemanly appearance, I think a Tiennot sweater would be just the ticket.

  • avatar Kristina says:

We have a standard dalmatian, Orion <3 , a miniature dalmatian Harper <3 , but my little toy-liver spotted dalmatian needs a martingale collar! he is a whopping 7.8lbs and we can not find a martingale collar small enough for him! Fuller would love a Sirius republic collar!

  • avatar Patti says:

Laynie (2 yr old boxer mix) is a a fashion diva and is always in need of a new color. She loves the big cat cloth collar in hot pink :) She already has one sirius collar and has been wishing for another!!!
Paws Crossed that she wins :)

  • avatar christine says:

Thank you for having a giveaway! Love the Waterloo and Stevie SR collars!

  • If we still lived in Illinois, I would totally be entering to win one of those adorable sweaters! Unfortunately, I think we’re going to be more raincoat-wearing than sweater-wearing in our new home, haha.

I adore Sirius Republic, and Ru owns a few already, but I really love the “Shrooms'” collar!

    P.S. Happy Anniversary!

  • We would loooove to win a Sirius Republic collar. Mushroom’s has gotten really ratty-looking over the past 6 months, thanks to Badger.

@The Rufus Way: Mushroom has the “Shrooms” collar! It looks really great with brown fur.

  • So great, we love your striped sweaters!

  • Thanks for the link! (And the comment you left on my blog about our pittie Ella.) Ella has a few collars, but I think she’d really like a sweater! I like the pink strip elderbelle style Maisie is modeling.

  • hardest decision EVER… I too am equally obsessed! However, Chocko could use a tieknot sweater of his own since practically everything else he owns are Knox handme-downs… and though we can and will make use of knox’s sweater, I’d love for Chocko to have one of his very own! Keep up the amazing blogging, Emily!!!! :)

  • avatar Emily says:

I need Sirius Republic business cards! They do get the best compliments, because of course they are better than any collar you can buy at a regular retail store.
We would love a new Sirius Republic Collar–Taylor needs one that says ‘adopt me!’ =)

  • avatar Kristin says:

One of my pups would love the Peace Love Foster collar. So cute!

  • Snoopy LOVES his sweater… I think his brother needs one too! It’s starting to get cold here in Michigan… everyone can use more sweaters :)

  • avatar Hannah Ong says:

We love reading your blog :) Widget our 1-year old Boxer-mix gal would love a tiennot sweater of her very own! She’s quite the (not-so-)little princess who hates being cold – and loves to dress up. Her favorite color is pink…and she’d look cute in a sweater to match her favorite pink & black polka-dotted Sirius Republic collar :)

  • Zoe would LOVE a Tiennot Knits Sweater to keep her warm during the Chicago winter!!!! (Perhaps something with pink in it??). :) Great results (and thanks for the shout out). You guys are the best!

  • avatar samie brown says:

I would love a large lil critters martingale collar from sirius republic! Just in time for haloween too :)

  • avatar Shawn W says:

I’ve been wanting a penny colar for our Pooh Bear for ages.

  • Oh boy, that’s difficult to decision. I would probably have to say Sirius Republic collar with Bow Tie for Pete. Congratulations on your three year anniversary and many more happy blogging years to come. Alley and Nigel

  • I must bow out of the giveaway (though I think it’s an awesome one!) because I for some reason have the goats, horses, chickens, cats and sheep but no dog. Thank you for sharing the results of your survey so I can use it as leverage with my husband to get a dog too, haha! Seriously, happy blogiversary–love seeing what you’re up to!
