Giveaway-a-Day #1: Suds up your Mutt! (and a couple Q’s A’d)

December 26th, 2011 | Posted by Emily in Doggies! | Giveaways | KC Neighborhood Gems | S.I.M.P.L.I.F.Y. | Stuff I Love

I promised last week that I would answer any questions you asked this week as a prelude to each day’s giveaway, so let’s get started…

A couple of you asked about my educational background, so here is the answer: I graduated with a degree in Mass Communications in 2006. After working in finance for almost 5 years, I realized I hated it and decided to go back to school for a Master’s degree in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Communication. I am a graduate teaching assistant, which means that in exchange for tuition and a small stipend, I teach two undergraduate classes (in my case, public speaking). I have one semester left, so I should be graduating in May 2012 as long as I am able to finish my thesis! Now, what I plan to do once that M.A. is officially added to my resume…well, that’s a question to be answered tomorrow… on to the giveaway!

I’ve posted about bathies before, and while the dogs give me dagger eyes whenever they hear the tub faucet turn on, I really enjoy our bathies ritual – especially how clean and yummy they smell after a nice bath!

I always use all-natural soaps for our dogs, but I’ve had a hard time finding an all-natural soap with a scent I really love. Until now.

Lavender-Citronella Y.U.M. Doggie Soap by Indigo Wild is my new favorite soap for our dogs! Not only is it all-natural, with a light, fresh scent, but it is made right here in Kansas City! Oh, and if that weren’t enough, $1 of every bar purchased goes to the Kansas City Sheltie Rescue! So my dogs smell good, plus I get to support local business and a rescue group! Score! The Y.U.M. line for dogs also includes a doggie wash gel, spray, and an odor neutralizing candle. Seriously, what more could you want?

Now you have the opportunity to try out some of these awesome products yourself! Up for grabs is one bar of the Lavender-Citronella Y.U.M. Doggie Soap and some samples of other Indigo Wild products for humans! To enter, check out the oh-so-fun details regarding this giveaway:

    Suds me up!

I love anything that smells fresh and clean… Peppermint and lavendar are my favorites.
I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday. I think your secret santa pittie posse was the cutest thing and it looks like you had a blast!

“SUDS ME UP” my personal favorite scent is hidden cat poo. haha, I crack myself up. My mama doesn’t think much of it, she likes lavender and vanilla. I like soap that doesn’t require getting in the big white box that rains. Thanks for sharing!

So…suds me up! It sounds like a great product and win or lose, I’m going to check them out. My favorite bath scent is vanilla. Here’s to a happy and peaceful new year to you and your pack.

Suds me up!!! My favorite bath scent is Sonic Death Monkey by Lush, but it’s sooooo expensive that I only use it on special occasions. :)

Bella (my pit bull) says that her favorite bath scent is dirt because SHE HATES BATHS.

  • SUDS ME UP! We are heavy users of Dr. Bronner’s in this house. Lavendar and peppermint are definitely top choices, although I am also a sucker for citrus-y scents.
Same goes for the doggies, although I have heard that it may be better to bathe dogs in unscented products because they have such strong sniffers and may resent their personal scent being overwhlemed by that of the soap. However, this is not advise that I follow personally. :)

Suds me up! Lavender-Citronella is a great combination for dogs…lavender is so relaxing and combines well with citrus, and citronella is a nice natural flea and other bug repellant!

I love anything good-smelling–fragrance is a huge mood-uplifter for me. Right now I’m enjoying the gritty soaps my sister gave out for Christmas called “Dirt Body Soap by Bami.”

I buy dog shampoo by the gallon for my (modest) grooming business, and right now the one I’m using is Organically Correct Enriched Protein shampoo for dogs. It has a rich, fruity smell that I love. I groomed a dog with a few fleas yesterday, so I followed up the shampoo with a bit of tea tree oil conditioner–hopefully that will knock them out!

“SUDS ME UP!” I use Lavender scented shampoo and conditioner on my furbabies. It seems to work this best and they love the smell. I also use a shampoo with Tea Tree oil in it to help keep off the fleas etc off…. It works great ! Alot of these are by Lush and we use many other types aswell all for the benefit of our furbabies! Always looking to try new stuff in order to see which will work the best.

I love giveaways. Betweem Q and A, Secret Santa, and this, your blog has been so fun this month!!

    SUDS ME UP!

We love Philosophy Amazing Grace body soap (can also be used as shampoo) Havi uses Tropicana!

  • Suds me Up! I have only recently realized that unlike my single girl days, I now have a husband who can help me hoist and bathe our pooches at home, so we’re just getting into dog bath fragrances. I think the lavender sounds fantastic (I use the lavender Mrs. Myers dish soap which I love!)

  • avatar Andrea says:

SUDS ME UP! My favorite bath scent is lavender, although our pittie Beau only agrees to a bath if hotdogs are involved, so that’s usually what the bathroom smells like in this house!

  • Suds Me Up! My favorite scented soap is Dr. Bronner’s Magic Almond Castile soap, by far! I use it to wash Maggie (with her sensitive skin) and me! We love to take it on camping trips because it can be used for washing clothes, dishes, dogs, hair, body, etc. etc. etc. Amazing stuff!

  • avatar Laurie says:

    Suds me up!

My favorite scent to use is lavender, but Hannah and Molly really prefer no baths at all. They begged me to not reply to you!

  • avatar Keri says:

Suds me up! I love cucumber mellon for my own body wash. I’m not sure if they make it for dogs though. My pup hates the bath. I have to go in with her, lol!

  • SUDS ME UP! I’m a coconut fan, for me and knox!

  • avatar Vanessa says:

Suds me up! I really love a clean, natural smell – smells related to oceans, beaches, and crisp, clean air. It doesn’t get better than that!

Suds me up! I bounced over here from “two pitties” and was so happy to see the Zum entry. I have just discovered the wonder of ZUM, the dog (Lucie May-red tick coonhound) smells great and I am happy with the earnestness of all their products.

  • Suds me up! I love, love, love lavender and vanilla scents. I think that Kamanchi however would prefer if I favored a more manly scent like beef. I’m mama so for now I win the battle of the smells :)
