One Couple + Two Dogs = Our Waldo Bungie

After 26 years on this earth, I finally made it to IKEA…I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same.

Joanna was nice enough to rent a Zipcar to take me out to Schaumburg for my first IKEA experience and I was not disappointed! It was 3 stories of home organization goodness. It was pure joy…not even kidding – I wandered around for almost 2 hours just taking it all in!

Can you BELIEVE these prices?! Unbelievable!

I want this pendant lamp!

I am salivating over this oven!

What a cute idea!

What a great idea for a small kitchen - like ours!

Baskets! Baskets! Baskets!

Can I just say that IKEA was amazing? Not only was it was it extremely affordable, but the displays gave me lots of ideas for my own home, and it has it’s own cafeteria so hungry customers can eat some Swedish meatballs or a cinnamon rolls while shopping! I couldn’t pronounce anything in the store, but I was willing to overlook that! I bought a couple small items that I could fit into my carry-on bag, including some curtains for the bathrooms (post coming soon!) and some white candle plates that I am going to use with my herb pots. I can’t wait to go back to Chicago in June because we’ll have a car then and I’ll be able to buy some more (and bigger) stuff!

So, long story short. It’s true… IKEA = Awesome

Oh my love, I think it’s a good thing KC doesn’t have IKEA. You and Daniel would need extra, extra jobs. Still, the stuff is super cute, and the prices are amazing. I could see a lot of that in your house, especially a wacky pendant. (That was meant in “your house can totally pull off funky stuff” way and not a “your taste is wack” way. I’m sure you understand.)

We could use some love here in San Jose. I posted pictures on my walls using tamale twine, paper, and paper clips. I’m desperate. The decor situation in our little apt. is abysmal.

  • Isn’t Ikea the best! We’re super lucky to have one nearby. E and I actually had our “first date” here way before ‘500 Days of Summer’ made it trendy.

  • Oh no, now you are going to want to go there all the time! I cherish my Ikea trips, they come about twice a year. It is an amazing thing to see for the first time, that’s for sure.

You’re making me want to return to my days in Groningen, when I would meet a friend for our one euro breakfast at Ikea every Thursday morning. Admittedly, there were a few times that we stayed for lunch as well. :) LOVE that place!

  • Ha… I think I still spend 2 hours there and I have one 20 minutes away! I wish more stores would take their lead and set up idea rooms/ homes… and offer yummy cinnamon rolls.
